Adding Existing Domain

Step 1.
Once you are in your Jd Omni account, from main menu, click on the
Online Store module.

The following modal will be displayed. Click on the Add Domain Name button to proceed to adding your domain name.

You will then be redirected to the Register Your Domain module, here click on the Add Existing Domain option from the following two options:

Step 4.
On clicking the Add Existing Domain button, you will be directed to the Add Existing Domain page, which looks as follows:

Step 5.
Enter the domain name on which you want your webstore to work in the Domain Name field.

Step 6.
Again enter your domain name in the Retype Domain Name field.

Once the domain name has been accepted, click on the Confirm button from the right-bottom corner of the page.

Configuring Domain Name

Once you have added your domain name in Jd Omni, you will now need to configure this domain name to work with your webstore. 

  • In case you have bought your domain name from www.bigrock.in, click here to configure your domain name.
  • In case you have bought your domain name from www.in.godaddy.com, click here to configure your domain name.

NOTE: This configuration is an important step, and SHOULD be done if you want your webstore to work on your domain name.

1. Linking your store with your BigRock domain

In case you already have an existing domain with BigRock, you would have to make a few changes in the DNS settings to correctly redirect traffic.

You would first need to access your DNS settings, delete any existing records present, and then finally add records.

1.1 Accessing your DNS settings

To access your DNS settings, you will have to first go to your domain provider’s website, and log into your account.

Step 1.
Enter www.bigrock.in in your browser, and click on the My Account button from the top right corner.

Step 2.
Enter your registered email address and password and click on the Login button.

Step 3.
From the List of Orders, click on the domain name of your shop.

Scroll down to the DNS Management section, and click on the Manage DNS link.

1.2 Delete existing A records

Once you have clicked on the Manage DNS button for your domain (as listed in 1.1 Access your DNS settings), you would need to delete any A records already present for your domain name.

Step 1.
Click on the first A Record present.

Step 2.
In the new screen that opens up, click on the Delete Record button.

  NOTE

Follow these steps for all A records present for your domain name, until there are no records present.

1.3 Assigning A Records

For customers to reach your website, you would have to direct each of them to Jd omni’s IP address.  For this, you would need to add two A Records. 

Step 1.
Once you have clicked on the Manage DNS button for your domain (as listed in 1.1 Access your DNS settings), you will land in the A Records section.

Step 2.
Click on the Add A Record button to proceed.

Step 3.
In the next window, perform the following actions:

  • Leave Host Name as blank.
  • Enter 14.142.191.1 in the Destination IPv4 Address field. 
  • Enter 7200 in the TTL field. 

Once filled, the page should look as follows:

Click on the Add Record button to add the A Record.

Step 4.
Once again, click on the Add A Record button.

Step 5.
In the next window, perform the following actions:

  • Enter www in the Host Name field.
  • Enter 14.142.191.1 in the Destination IPv4 Address field. 
  • Enter 7200 in the TTL field. 

Once filled, the page should look as follows:

Click on the Add Record button to add the A Record.

Congratulations. You have now added two A Records and these will be activated in a time period of 4 hours. After that, all customers searching for myshop.com or www.myshop.com will reach your website automatically.

1. Linking your store with your GoDaddy domain

In case you already have an existing domain with GoDaddy, you would have to make a few changes in the DNS settings to correctly redirect traffic.

You would first need to access your DNS settings, delete any existing records present, and then finally add records.

1.1 Accessing your DNS settings

To access your DNS settings, you will have to first go to your domain provider’s website, and log into your account.

Enter www.in.godaddy.com in your browser, and click on the Sign In button from the top right corner.

Step 2.
Enter your login ID and password and click on the Login button.

On successful login, the MY PRODUCTS page opens up.

In the DOMAINS section, click on the Manage button.

Step 6.
A page with all of your domains will now be visible on the new page. Click on the domain name of your shop’s website.

The DOMAIN DETAILS page opens up and looks as follows.

Step 7.
In the DOMAIN DETAILS page, click on the DNS ZONE FILE tab.

1.2 Deleting existing records

Once you are in the DNS ZONE FILE tab (as listed in 1.1 Accessing your DNS settings), you would need to delete any records already present for your domain name.

Step 1.
For the first record, click on the 13 icon from the right corner of the record.

Step 2.
In the red notification that appears, click on the Save Changes icon to confirm.

  NOTE

Follow these steps for all records present for your domain name, until there are no records present.

1.3 Assigning records

For customers to reach your website, you would have to direct each of them to Jd omni’s IP address.  For this, you would need to add two records. 

Once you have deleted all existing records in the DNS ZONE FILE tab (as listed in 1.2 Deleting existing records), you would need to first add an A Record and second, a CNAME Record.

Step 1.
Click on the Add Record link. 

Step 2.
In the ADD ZONE RECORD modal that appears, click on the down arrow for the Select Record… option.

Step 3.
From the list of options, select the A (Host) option.

Step 4.
In the blank fields, perform the following actions:

  • Enter @ in the HOST field.
  • Enter 14.142.191.1 in the POINTS TO field.
  • Select 1/2 Hour in the TTL dropdown.

Once filled, the page should look as follows: 

Click on the FINISH button to add the A Record.

Step 5.
Once again, click on the Add Record link. 

Step 6.
From the list of options, select the CNAME (Alias) option.

Step 7.
In the blank fields, perform the following actions:

  • Enter www in the HOST field.
  • Enter @ in the POINTS TO field.
  • Select 1/2 Hour in the TTL dropdown.

Once filled, the page should look as follows:

Click on the FINISH button to add the CNAME Record.

Congratulations. You have now added an A Record and a CNAME Record and these will be activated in a time period of 4 hours. After that, all customers searching for myshop.com or www.myshop.com will reach your website automatically.

On successful addition of the domain name, and the configuration, your customers can now visit your webstore at the new URL (www.ayushgeneralstores.com) and carry on their shopping. Also, the next time you click on the Online Store option from the left menu, you will be taken to your webstore on this new URL.

 Business Email

Once your domain has been registered, you can also purchase email accounts for your store. These emails can be used for notifications purposes, communications and feedback from your customers, communication to/between staff members, and other purposes.

At the bottom of the screen, you will see the following information:
